Fitting is for a Ford Escort GTI MK6 R REG with ABS. Other MKs and models may varry.
You have to use thicker copper washers than originals.

Brake and clutch cleaner.
1. Loosen wheels nuts (19mm socket)
2. Jack vehicle and support. Remove front wheel.
3. Loosen banjo brake fitting (17mm).
4. Remove calliper mounting bolts (13mm hex)
5. Nip brake line above banjo.
6. Remove Brake line and calliper. Retrieve banjo and washers.
7. Clean the mounting surfaces on the hub and check ABS collector ring.
8. Drill both mounting holes with 12mm drill bit. Avoid collector ring. Should
Easily drill keeping drill as straight as poss.
9. Attach ST170 calliper to hub just to see if everything's ok. Then remove.
10. Fit disc and wind 2 wheel nuts on to secure at this time.
11. Bolt calliper on taking care not to hit collector ring. Add locktight to
bolts If requires. This is up to you!
12. Make sure the disc turns freely.
13. Clean up brake fitting surface and fitting. Attach the banjo and washers
and secure. Don't overtighten or you will brake them. (use thick washers
as the banjo will bottom out before they seals). Remove nip tool.
14. Get some muppet to help you bleed the brakes. Make sure theirs plenty
of fluid in the resivour. Do one end at a time, starting with the right.
MAKE sure no fluid comes in to contact with the discs or pads.
MAKE sure you have a nice firm brake pedal and pump the brake pistons
out.
15. Should look like this. Don't forget to put the spring clip on like i did
before i took the pic.
16. Stop being tight and buy some nice alloys and refit front wheel.
Wheel must be 17" (some 16" will fit). Lower car and give nuts that
final nip.
17. Hey presto. ST170 brakes fitted.
18. Give your motor i nice old wash.
There's are a few thing i have left out like, Cleaning and painting the calliper, Apply copper slip to the slides and the back of the pads. Don't get any on the discs or pads. If you do use the cleaner its

stuff. I couldn't be bother to overhaul the calliper as these brakes came off a motor with only 13'000 on the clock. I wasnt very enthusiastic when it came to painting the callipers either. I used Gally paint as a primer then heat resistand red. Common sense should be used like... Making sure the mating faces are all spotless. Try not to get fluid everywhere cause its naughty stuff. Its also hydroscopic which means it absorbs water.
MAKE sure you have a

brake pedal and take the car for a test run without the radio on. Listen for any noises and FFS make sure they work mint.
If not..Pull the wheels back off, Check for leaks and re-bleed.
